I probably should have started to post the progress on this particular art piece a while back.. I guess that’s what a blog is for anyway, and I’ve been horrible at posting anything news worthy, and instead, opted to posting stuff people have already seen, meh. No more of that. Official news from now on.

Goobers Arena Featured on Albino Blacksheep!!!

My very first submission to be featured on Albino Blacksheep!!! This site seems to be particularly picky about what types of animations/games they host, so it was pretty cool to hear back from them and get a featured spot, right at the top of their page. A screenie below:

Goobers Arena Frontpaged on Newgrounds!!!

Duuuuuuuudes!! Goobers Arena freakin’ got the coveted frontpage on none other than Newgrounds; The site that started it all. I also was able to nab the highest score of any submission for that day, thereby earning me the Daily Feature trophy! I should also mention that I got the 4th highest score out of the entire week; pretty freakin’ sweet. Check it, check it:

Badass? I think so. It’s pretty awesome to become featured on the very site that first inspired me to start my Flash career. I grew up watching all the crazy indie Flash cartoons that have been posted up on Newgrounds throughout the years…. Good to know that raw Flash animations are still able to nab some awesome website space and are worth the effort that’s put into them. I know that Flash games kinda took over the scene and many sites will only sponsor games, leaving animations in the cold. It’d be nice for more sites to sponsor Flash animators, but until then, I’m glad that there’s a Newgrounds.

Well, as for the future of my little green minions, I will definitely be creating future games and animations featuring the murderous creatures. I’m planning on creating a Goobers Arena 2, Some kind of Goobers Flash game, as well as introducing them to the Android and iPhone in an app. Should be good…

Newgrounds awards and Fan-Net site rank

I was browsing NG (as I normally do) and noticed something on a particular artist’s page that I’ve never noticed before. NG now lists all of an artist’s awards on their page, which I though was pretty sweet. It was cool to see the history of my awards. I feel….. accomplished as an artist. Well, sort of. I’m always very critical of my work and this definitely alleviated some of the pressure. Also, I found a part of the Newgrounds site that shows all of the “friends of NG” and their respective page rank. ESP Animation was listed as numero 26! Number 26 out of 150-something sites. Pretty cool and also, unexpected. I’m ready for more site growth! ESP 2.0, here we go!

Nice. And so much more so when it’s totally unexpected. I mean, I’ve worked my ass off on games for over a month or so and didn’t even get an award on NG at times… I worked on the Blueprint episode for 2 days and it gets “Daily Feature”… Well, I definitely can’t complain Just funny how that works sometimes. Anyway, if you haven’t bothered to check out the animated short yet, please do!
